2024 NISSAN ROGUE Safety Overview

"On December 30 2025, at 33,277 miles, I had an engine failure due to a cracked head. I was stranded on the road in 24F temperature outside and the vehicle had to be towed. It lost acceleration power and heat. Several warning messages and lights were on. Eleven weeks later, Nissan replaced the engine. Two weeks later, the catalytic converter went out and had to be replaced. Four months later, in August, the turbo went out and had to be replaced. On October 7 2026, at 46,800 miles, the new engine failed and I was again stranded at 44F temperature outside and the vehicle had to be towed. No warning lights or messages. It lost acceleration power and heat. It is currently at the Nissan dealership awaiting diagnostics. I drive 100 miles a day. I cannot continue driving such an unreliable vehicle and risk being stranded on the road in adverse conditions again."

"The back windshield completely shattered while parked. No one was in or around the vehicle and nothing hit the vehicle causing it to shatter."

"Glass on the back lift gate of the vehicle shattered when closing the driver's side door. Thankfuly this happened while the car was parked, but if it happened while driving or with others around or in the back seat, being showered with glass doesn't seem very safe. I've read reports of this happening to other cars of the same make/model. It's currently being replaced by an auto glass service center. No warrnings or messages."

"The rear liftgate glass on my 2024 Nissan Rogue SV AWD spontaneously shattered. There was no collision or known impact with the glass. The vehicle had aprox. 49300 miles and I had purchased it form Enterprise car Sales approximately one week before the incident. the rear glass suddenly shattered/imploded. I contacted Nissan Consumer Affairs and they opened a case under my VIN. Nissan provided me with a case number but advised that they will not provide repair assistance at this time. Enterprise Car Sales has been notified and is having its mechanic inspect the vehicle."

"At approximately 5:45pm on 10/01/26, my rear window/glass hatch shattered. It sounded like an explosion. I was driving approximately 10 mph in rush hour traffic and immediately looked to my right, then left and was surrounded by vehicles on each side. Nothing had fell off another vehicle (I was in the middle lane), not near a bridge or overpass. I drove 1.3 miles to a Murphy gas station and got out to assess the damage."

"It is XXX; but back in June time frame 2026 an engine recall was called for my 2024 Nissan Rouge. Dangerous to the point that car would shut down or burst into flame with not warnings WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE ON THE ROAD AND AT ALL SPEEDS - hgwy. Nissans consumer affairs division discussed this in chat rooms with owners of the year vehicles 2023 - 2025? effected that when the engine is replaced YOU MUST ADDRESS AND CHANGE OUT THE TRANSMISSION. The vehicle is built on VCT technology - variable compression technology??. The replacement engine is so robust and apparently stronger than OME - Original Manufacture Equipment that marrying it with the OME transmission in a short period of time the engine would destroy the trans. Today only a few short months later at 5 AM traveling on XXX at max speed the trans went into LIMP MODE. Limp mode is Nissan's reference terminology I took it to the dealership where I leased it - and changed out the engine and married the anticipated trans failure - it was only a matter of time - it FAILED, the vehicle lost power, steering failed the car from 71 mph quickly slowed would not go any further it dropped speed so fast it was almost hit from behind by a tractor trailer - Nissan's consumer affairs division full well knows of the combination repair issues and NOW the dealership I brought it to, scanned the truck confirmed my worst nightmare was true that after they replaced the engine on recall AND tried to tip-toe away from a trans replacement the engine destroyed the trans and my wife was in grave danger THEY EXPECT US TO PAY $ 2,200.00 TO REPLACE THE TRANS - THEY ARE REFUSING TO PAY FOR THE REPLACMENT CAUSED BY THEM IGNORING RESPONSIBILITY. WE WANT OUT OF THIS LEASE EXPUNGE THE LEASE AGREEMENT AND STEP BACK FROM DEMANDS OF EXCESSIVE $ FOR HIGH MILAGE TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK AND PUT US INTO A NEW VEHICLE - "LEMON LAW' RECALL NOT RECTIFIED AND LIVES ARE AT RISK - CONTACT ME PLEASE [XXX] ROB MONTY - URGENT!! "While parked, I closed the vehicle door. The sudden cabin backpressure caused the rear windshield to instantly and violently explode outward without warning. There was no prior impact, extreme weather, or external object that caused the damage. This spontaneous shattering creates an extreme safety hazard and an immediate distraction risk."

"The Specific Defect: My vehicle has two active federal safety recalls: NHTSA Campaign 26V080 (internal engine bearing failure causing a severe knock) and NHTSA Campaign 26V081 (electronic throttle body malfunction). The Dealer Violations: Nissan McDonough officially diagnosed the engine as faulty but refused to execute the free engine replacement under the campaign. Nissan South Morrow attempted to charge me retail out-of-pocket prices for the recalled throttle body, they did not replace it, they only conducted the OMC (?) The service manager explicitly refused the recall by claiming a code for a "throttle valve door" is not covered under the throttle body assembly campaign. Federal law explicitly mandates that when an active safety recall is present, manufacturers and their franchise dealers must complete the repair without charge and frame. I used my Rouge for my courier services and I am contract by two companies Aerospace and Airspace and I am in danger of losing my contacts. I have lost 10 days of wages thus far. Can you please assist me."

"While operating the vehicle, the electronic shifter assembly failed completely, preventing the vehicle from shifting into the desired gear. The dealership diagnosed the issue as an internal electrical/mechanical failure of the shifter assembly and cited "sticky residue" near the center console as the cause, subsequently denying warranty coverage. This design places highly sensitive, non-sealed electrical shifter components directly adjacent to the center console cup holders. Under normal, foreseeable cabin use, any minor environmental moisture or fluid proximity causes immediate, catastrophic failure of the shifting mechanism. This is a severe safety hazard as it can leave the vehicle abruptly stranded in active traffic, prevent the driver from placing the vehicle into 'Park' securely, or trap occupants in an unsafe location without the ability to move the vehicle out of harm's way. Nissan has previously acknowledged this exact vulnerability in earlier model years under Technical Service Bulletin NTB21-069A (which explicitly covered shifter replacement even with liquid intrusion), demonstrating that the underlying component design remains fundamentally flawed and unsafe for standard automotive environments."

"Rear windshield shattered spontaneously. I was in a restaurant drive-through and was not moving. I heard a very loud crack/bang, sounded like a shot or a brick hit my car. There was no "hole" but the entire back windshield was shattered. Once I started driving, glass started breaking away and falling into my car. There is no current recall for this, but it's a known issue for this make/model/year."

"Reported EMC control issue 12/25 turned out to be a recall of Trottle contol system . Dealership took vehicle and completed repair. September 26 issue occurred again . Very dangerous situations in both circumstances as the vehicle loses power and has no acceleration. September 2026 on a major 3 lane interstate vehicles traveling over 65mph Vehicle dead in left hand lane . PSP state police called to scene as well as tow agency"

"Engine / Fuel/Smog/Emissions System (EGR Cooler) Description of the Safety Hazard - My 2024 Nissan Rogue experienced a sudden and catastrophic failure of the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) cooler assembly. The internal core of the EGR cooler cracked, causing engine coolant to leak and completely drain. This defect caused severe engine overheating, a sudden and dangerous loss of motive power while driving the vehicle went into limp mode, and experience engine stalling. The sudden loss of engine power/stalling on the highway created an immediate, high-risk collision hazard. Furthermore, coolant leaking into hot engine components presents a critical thermal/fire risk.The vehicle is currently grounded and entirely undrivable at an authorized Nissan dealership. The dealership confirmed that the vehicle cannot be safely operated. However, Nissan cannot provide a repair timeline because the replacement EGR cooler (OEM Part 14735-6RC0B) is on an indefinite national backorder due to widespread, systemic manufacturing defects across this engine line. Hundreds of other drivers are experiencing this exact same dangerous failure, and a formal safety recall is urgently needed before it causes a fatal accident."

"I have tried without success to have Nissan Consumer Affairs assist me with an ongoing issue with my vehicle that started in February of 2026. The check engine light coming on and sending various codes related to system too lean. It was repaired in March of 2026 only to come on again this past August of 2026. Dealership in Crystal Lake Illinois M'Lady claimed it was repaired only for the light to come on again. They still are not sure why it's happening. They've had master technician from Nissan come and still cannot resolve the issue. The case manager at Nissan consumer affairs is extremely rude and unhelpful. She refuses to help me get the outcome desired with this case. She hasn't even bothered to contact the dealer where my car is to inquire about the updates or services done to the car. I want an early termination of my lease so that I can get a vehicle that is in working condition. I'm paying almost $600 a month on a vehicle that isn't safe or functional. Please help me get this resolved as consumer affairs is unwilling to act with efficiency and professionalism. Thanks"

"I was merging onto a highway ramp. All of the cabin lights in my car turned on, and a message popped up on my dashboard that said "Engine Stall. Please Stop Safely." I was in the worst part of the road imaginable for this to happen. I was able to get it back up and running for just enough time to make it to the main road, then depended on gravity to get to the safest spot on the side of the road that I could find (still was not safe by any means but the best place I could be for that situation). I called a towing company, Bang's Towing, and waited for quite a while, hoping and praying that no one would hit my car. I had to inconvenience someone else to come pick me up. While waiting for the tow and for my ride, I did some research to figure out how and why this could have happened. I found out that there had been a recall issued for my car for MONTHS, for this exact issue, and I was never notified about it in any capacity. I checked my mail, both of my email addresses, my call logs, and all turned up empty. I then brought it to a Nissan dealership and it has been sitting there since that day. My point in all of this is that I was never given any sort of notification about an issue for my car which could have ended in a lot WORSE of a situation. I paid $347.80 for my car to be towed. I will be pursuing further action with Nissan to rectify but still wanted to put this on record."

"On [XXX], I was driving for about 40 minutes on the highway when my car stopped accelerating and the dashboard said it reduced power and required service. It was towed to Lia Nissan in Schenectady NY where they said it was an electrical recall and that they fixed the problem. Then on [XXX], I was driving on the highway again for about 40 minutes when the same issue occurred. I stopped being able to accelerate and the car went into reduce power mode. It was towed to Country Club Nissan in Oneonta NY where they had my vehicle from 8/7/26 until 9/4/26. They determined it was an oil temperature control valve that needed replacing. On [XXX], on the same spot on the highway, my car stopped accelerating and broke down yet again. It was towed to Country Club Nissan in Oneonta NY again where they replaced the same part they’d previously replaced. Both times, the oil temperature in my car was overheated. "El 26 de Febrero del 2026 falló por primera vez, se prendió un triángulo amarillo en el tablero que decía Engine Malfunction power reduced. Le cambiaron el cuerpo de aceleración, lo cual la reparación costó $922 dólares, después el 19 de Junio 2026 volvió a fallar y dijeron que era la válvula de admisión y sería $2000 lo cual les dije del recall y no nos cobraron, ahora está otra vez en la agencia porque se volvió a prender el foco de advertencia de power reduced."
