"Safety recall 23V-431 / Honda campaign 23-046 (EEL) for the MOST/FAKRA network was completed after I purchased this 2019 Honda Odyssey in May 2026. I did not notice popping or crackling during my brief pre-recall ownership. After several thousand miles following the recall repair, faint but distinct speaker crackling began on approximately 08/02/2026. The upper steering-column/meter trim disturbed during the recall procedure was also returned loose, raising concern about repair workmanship and possible routing or strain on the installed FAKRA service cables or splice boxes. The rearview camera has not yet failed, but its image and the center display depend on the same MOST ring; interruption of that network can remove the rearview image while reversing and reduce rearward visibility. The vehicle's stored MOST shutdown history contains several pre-purchase SUDDEN_SIGNAL_OFF events and multiple CRITICAL_UNLOCK events, so I cannot say the recall created the original network defect. However, the exact crackling warning symptom has now appeared despite completion of the recall. No new post-repair MOST shutdown event had been logged when I checked. The vehicle and recall-installed components are available for inspection. No dealer or independent shop has yet reproduced or confirmed this post-repair symptom. I request that NHTSA evaluate whether the 23V-431 remedy and its installation procedure adequately prevent continuing MOST/FAKRA interruptions and potential loss of the rearview-camera display."

"Hello, my 2019 Odyssey 3.5L V6 engine has a severe knocking noise/engine failure identical to Recall 23V-751, but my VIN was excluded. The car has only 81,100 miles and started the knocking out of no where a week ago. I had an independant mechanic take a look at it and he said the same thing that it was the connecting rod bearing and the knock was coming from the engine. I dont think it is fair that I should be held liable for an engine repair that is a factory fault and just becuase my vin number is not inlcuded. The vehicles oil was also just changed at the dealership prior to the knock starting. Please have this strongly considered to have HONDA cover this repair."

"On 8.1.26, while operating my 2019 Honda Odyssey, the vehicle suffered a catastrophic, un-commanded automatic emergency braking event followed by a total failure of the brake-release fail-safe mechanisms. While driving in active traffic, the vehicle's forward-facing sensor system suffered a false-alarm trigger. Due to a severe design and component vulnerability, the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) switch suffered a simultaneous internal mechanical and electronic hardware failure. Because the EPB switch failed internally at the exact moment of the automatic braking event, the system failed to command a brake release. The vehicle’s wheels locked completely, leaving the vehicle completely immobilized in active traffic. This multi-system failure resulted in an immediate, life-threatening crash hazard. By random circumstance and the grace of God, a catastrophic rear-end collision was avoided, but this was a severe near-fatal safety event. A professional automotive diagnostic scan confirmed that the vehicle's computer retained 2 distinct fault incident codes documenting the internal hardware failure of the EPB switch. The dealership confirmed that the system provides absolutely no advance warning to the driver, and fails entirely "in the event," meaning the vehicle remains safe until it suddenly and unpredictably locks the brakes on the highway. The vehicle was repaired out-of-pocket for $297 to replace the defective switch. I am filing this complaint because an internal electronic switch failure must never result in an un-commanded, un-releasable wheel lockup while a vehicle is in motion. This indicates a fatal flaw in Honda's braking fail-safe architecture. This issue must be investigated immediately before it results in a future serious or fatal acciden."

"Rear lift hatch has failed. Everytime when opening the trunk rear hatch door it refuses to stay open and comes back down closing. This closing happens even with resistance and would injure or kill a child. The trunk shuts unless significant force is out upon it to stay open in which case case it sags and does not remain open at normal height. This is a part failure and Honda should recall for safety and replace."

"The connecting rod bearings failed, resulting in engine damage. The failed bearings, crankshaft, and oil pan debris have been retained and are available for inspection on request. The vehicle developed a loud ticking noise from the engine. A Honda dealer initially diagnosed the noise as coming from the timing belt tensioner and replaced the timing belt and tensioner. The noise was unchanged after that repair. The dealer then traced the noise to the bottom end of the engine and performed a teardown on 07/16/2026, which confirmed connecting rod bearing failure with significant metallic debris throughout the oil pan. The dealer documented the failure with photographs. The engine is not driveable. The problem has therefore been confirmed by an authorized dealer through disassembly. The manufacturer has been notified but has not physically inspected the engine. There has been no police or insurance involvement. Warning symptoms: an audible ticking noise from the engine was the only symptom. No warning lamps, dashboard messages, or other indications appeared at any point before or during the failure. Safety: this failure mode is the subject of NHTSA Preliminary Evaluation PE25008, opened 08/20/2025, covering connecting rod bearing failures leading to complete engine failure in the 3.5L V6, including MY2018-2020 Odyssey. It is also the failure mode described in Recall 23V-751, which states that engine failure may cause loss of motive power and increase the risk of crash and fire. My vehicle falls outside that recall's build range and the manufacturer has declined coverage on that basis. Had the bearing seized while driving rather than being found during shop diagnosis, the engine could have lost power or stalled without warning. This vehicle carries family passengers on highways. No crash, fire, or injury occurred."

"I am reporting a safety-related defect involving my **2019 Honda Odyssey EX-L** (VIN: **5FNRL6H76KB029137**) with approximately **101,156 miles**. **"Brake System"** warning message appears first. Within seconds, additional warnings appear one at a time for **Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), and Automatic High Beam**. All of these safety systems become unavailable. The vehicle continues to drive and brake normally, and the speedometer functions correctly. The Blind Spot Information System and rear parking sensors continue to operate normally. A diagnostic scan performed by a VIP Honda mechanic identified **Diagnostic Trouble Code U3000-49** stored in the **front multipurpose camera module**, indicating an internal camera module fault. The battery and alternator have been tested and are operating correctly. The vehicle has its **original windshield**, has **never been involved in a collision**, and there are **no signs of water intrusion** around the front camera assembly. This failure occurred suddenly during normal driving without any known external cause. The failure disables multiple collision avoidance and driver assistance systems that are intended to help prevent crashes. Because these safety systems become unavailable during normal vehicle operation, I believe this represents a potential safety defect that should be investigated. I have notified Honda of this issue and opened **American Honda Customer Relations Case #165-16502**. Honda is currently reviewing the matter for possible goodwill assistance. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate whether similar front camera module failures (DTC U3000-49) are occurring in other 2019 Honda Odyssey vehicles equipped with Honda Sensing."

"Failed Component: Direct Fuel Injector Set. The components are currently on the vehicle and are available for inspection upon request. Safety Risk: The failing fuel injectors create a severe engine air/fuel imbalance, which causes engine hesitation, engine stumbling during acceleration, and unpredictable power loss. This puts my family at high risk of a collision, particularly when merging onto highways, crossing busy intersections, or accelerating from a stop. Furthermore, dumping unburnt fuel into the exhaust risks overheating the catalytic converter, creating a potential fire hazard. Dealer Confirmation: Yes. The problem was confirmed by AutoNation Honda 365 in Memphis, TN, on [XXX] (Mileage: 83,452). Manufacturer Inspection: The vehicle was inspected by factory-trained technicians at an authorized Honda dealership. A case was opened with Honda Corporate, but they refused to cover the repair, stating my specific VIN batch was excluded from their warranty extension, despite suffering the exact same failure. Warning Lamps & Symptoms: An "Emissions System Problem" warning and the Check Engine Light illuminated on [XXX]. Incident Description & Cause: Honda is fully aware of this dangerous defect. They issued Service Bulletin 21-010, acknowledging that "debris from the high-pressure pump or the fuel injector machining process can cause internal wear or clogging" in 2018-2019 Odysseys. Following the TSB 21-010 protocol, the dealer pulled code P219A and performed a "Cylinder AF Test." My vehicle failed the test (Cylinder 3 running rich). The Honda technician’s official notes state: "Fail air fuel test need injector set internal failure." Honda extended the warranty to 10 years/150,000 miles for this known manufacturing defect, yet they are arbitrarily excluding my 2019 Odyssey, which has the exact identical internal failure documented by their own dealer. Honda's refusal to issue a full recall leaves all affected drivers at risk. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)"

"I have received warning lights associated with safety features controlled by front facing windshield camera indicating that the ACC, auto braking, lane departure and front collision avoidance features were not working. This has happened once before just over a year ago and I was told by the dealer that the camera needed to be replaced. I did so, at a cost of over $2K. All features worked again after the costly replacement, until last month, just outside of the one year warranty on the new camera. This is clearly an issue with either the camera or a connected electrical issue. This van also has a breach in the body wields at the rear lift gate opening in which water is able to seep into the interior of the body behind the interior rear side panels. During heavy rains the carpet on the right side trunk area is wet and can be tracked to coming from behind the right rear interior molding. I have not yet removed the molding so I am unsure if any electrical components connected to the front camera and associated safety features are located there and might be causing these safety feature issues. At a minimum, both of these issues, the camera constantly quitting, as well as the breach in the body allowing moisture intrusion, should warrant a forced recall for Honda to address and correct each item."

"We have Multipurpose Camera Failure. No damage or accidents. It just started failing. There are many reports of this and the camera is on back order with Honda. They are charging $2100 to fix it. The official Honda Odyssey Forum online has countless complaints on the same issue without resolution by Honda. Honda has acted in bad-faith towards their customers since this defect impacts the vehicle's advanced safety features for which buyers incur additional expenses, endangering the lives of passengers. Honda has acted in bad-faith towards their customers by designing a system that requires continuous and substantial expenditures without resolution because it is an engineering problem, i.e., the placement of the radar behind the large, thick plastic H emblem obstructs the radar. I hereby ask that the NHTSA investigate this issue and order Honda to offer a solution in the form of a RECALL that permanent addresses the problem. Our experience after contacting Honda Corporate to get some help is this is a money maker for them."
