"own a 2015 Ford Focus that has experienced repeated transmission-related problems over several years. The symptoms have included harsh shifting, hesitation, failure to shift properly, and at one point the vehicle would not shift into reverse. These transmission issues have caused ongoing concerns about the vehicle's safety and reliability. I have brought the vehicle to Ford dealerships on multiple occasions seeking diagnosis and repair. Ford replaced the Transmission Control Module (TCM) on November 16, 2024 under Ford Field Service Action 14M02 after diagnosing transmission-related problems, including Diagnostic Trouble Code P087A. Despite that repair, the vehicle continued to experience transmission-related concerns. Approximately one year later, another Ford repair order documented multiple TCM-related diagnostic codes and directed that the vehicle be returned to a Ford dealership for further evaluation. The transmission concerns persisted even after the previous TCM replacement. Most recently, I again presented the vehicle to a Ford dealership because of continuing transmission issues. I was provided an estimate of approximately $2,000 for additional transmission repairs. At the time of the estimate, I was not provided the complete diagnostic trouble codes or technician findings explaining why another major transmission repair was necessary. Over the course of ownership, I have made multiple appointments, diagnostic visits, and repair visits related to the transmission and have incurred significant out-of-pocket expenses, including diagnostic charges, towing costs, and repairs. The repeated failures and recurring transmission concerns have required multiple visits to Ford dealerships and have not resulted in a lasting repair. My concern is not only the financial cost but also the safety of operating this vehicle. Unexpected transmission malfunction can affect acceleration, shifting, and the vehicle's ability to move normally in traffic, creating a potential safe"

"I made an initial post on 06/18/2026 so please reference that as well as this. I have not been able to drive the car since it died on me on the 18th of June. The car has been looked at a few times (actually stalling a third time while idling but was able to turn back on.) It has also displayed symptoms associated with the Ford Recall #26S40 / NHTSA recall #26V369 but it is listed at NOT included in the recall as of 07/06/2026. MIL is pulling Code P0420 (catalytic system efficiency below threshold) while only having 40k miles. It is also putting out an inaccurate fuel level for miles driven. The fuel tank itself is misshapen (concave bottom of the fuel tank). Again, reiterating here that it stopped twice while driving within 2 days on major PA highways/interstates and stalled for a third time while in idle mode as described earlier in this post. This has all happened within 28 miles of the TCM being replaced."

"There were two times within a week where the car stopped in the middle of traffic. One was on Route 100 in a merge lane and the other was on the offramp of route 30 to 100 Exton. This happened in the middle left turn lane with traffic behind me causing me to need immediate police assistance to ensure my safety. The Check Engine light was popping from the TCM indicator which I was told I could still drive on without repairing it immediately. This came directly from Fred Beans Ford of West Chester PA. My car has been in the shop multiple times since December 2025 beginning with the original CPV recall and things got worse from there. It's caused lots of anxiety and ptsd while driving to the point I want to sell the car after it is repaired because I just don't feel safe anymore in it."

Well I had to get a TCM replaced and then I was told about the studder wasn't under no warranty and the recall has expired. So now its 6-1-26 and now the transmission is messing up again. This is ridiculous on people who buys cars hoping they will last for a long time but instead we pay 7,000 for a car and drive it for 2 years. WOW THANKS A LOT FORD"

There is nothing wrong with my transmission. The car had been on a recall for a part that has been replaced 2 different times. "At 116,500 miles, the oil pump failed on my Ford Focus. This was verified by an auto repair shop. The car has the Ford ecoboost 1.0 engine. Ford has a recall on this engine with a build date of March 24, 2015 to May 4, 2018. My car was built on Aug 4, 2015 within the range of the recall. The recall states that cars with automatic transmission are included. My car has a manual 6 speed. I don't believe that the transmission has anything to do with the oil pump failure. The car "check engine" and "check oil" lights came on and there were multiple instances where the car stalled and I became stranded, often on busy roads. It has been well documented on the internet that Ford has had issues with this engine. I am not planning on repairing this car as the shop explained it probably will be in the range of $7000 which way more than the value of this car that is almost 10yrs old and 116500. The car is currently sitting in my garage non drivable with a scrap value of pennies compared what trade-in value or extend life of the car."

This is a know issue with the Ford Focus and Ford has issued a Customer Satisfaction Program 24N07. They refuse to honor the program unless you keep paying them for diagnostic work until the code shows up for it. I have ran the codes myself on it and it is fuel related to the Canister Purge Valve. This issue is very dangerous in that the car does stall out on the road with no warning. "The car would not shift into a gear, would not shift gear to propel itself in traffic causing a safety issue. A warning light would come on saying the transmission was getting overheated. Ford of Glenwood Springs Colorado refused to look at the car because of its age despite the recall on the clutch for the year, make and model of the car. A NAPA shop determined the clutches were out. NAPA quoted $4,253 to fix the problem. I called Ken Garff Ford in Fort Collins Colorado at 4809 S. College Avenue to get this fixed under the recall. They said my VIN number wasn't covered, and the cost would be $6,000. I called Ford 1-866-436-7332 spoke to Ron employee #2192738 and was told he would document the call but could not do anything. Ford is aware of the safety issue we simply want them to standby their product and fix the problem or reimbursing us for the repairs to avoid a further hardship to get to work. "I’m writing about my 2015 Ford Focus (VIN: [XXX] ), which has under 38,500 miles. While heading to work, I suddenly lost power steering—no warning, just stiff steering out of nowhere. The repair cost me over $5,000 to replace the electric power steering rack, which only a Ford dealer could handle due to software restrictions. This follows a TCM replacement that Ford covered under recall. I contacted Ford for goodwill assistance, but they refused. At this mileage, these failures are unacceptable. "Engine Stalls: the engine stalls unexpectedly while driving at highway speeds and city/street speeds. Loss Of Power: Sudden loss of motive power creates an immediate crash hazard. Starting Issues: the car struggles to start or cranks excessively after refueling. Erratic Fuel Guage: The fuel gauge fluctuates wildly and gives inaccurate readings. Malfunction Indicator: The Check Engine Light is illuminated with emission-related codes. Fuel Tank Noise: Loud clunking or thumping noises come from the fuel tank area. The problem began in September 2025 and I took the car to a local mechanic and they fixed the issued, however the issue has started again. The fix did not solve the problems."

"The driver’s side door will not latch and the door cannot close. This is the same defect covered by Ford recalls 16S30 and 20S30, but my VIN was excluded. Ford CRC opened case number CXH05284452-Z8X6J1, but denied coverage. I have had to rent a vehicle while my car is unsafe to drive. This is a major safety hazard as the door can open while driving."

"To Whom It May ConcernI am writing regarding the fuel system recall on my 2015 Ford Focus (VIN: [XXX] ), specifically related to Recall Number 18S32 / NHTSA Campaign Number 18V735000, which involves the canister purge valve, a required PCM software update, and inspection of the gas tank. This recall was started at a Ford dealership in Two Harbors Minnesota which I paid cash in December 2022. The problem consisted with many inconveniences in side of the road break downs. I had the recall serviced again in 2024 in Blythe CA at Ford where the purge valve was supposedly replaced, but the software update was never completed by that Ford because they claimed that the update was done in Parker AZ around 2022. The gas tank was not inspected for damage. My car is stalling in the middle of driving leaving me in grave danger since this happens on the freeway in Las Vegas, in the middle of nowhere in the desert and has done so in below zero degree in Minnesota all while I have my two small children in the car with me. This jeopardizes myself and children’s lives by stranding us in unknown places and weather elements that are harass or stalling on freeway not allowing me enough warning to get to the side of the road which could cause someone to hit my car from behind at a high rate. The full recall has not been performed. I bought this faulty car in Parker AZ which it should have never been sold with this problem jeapordizong my family’s life. The fuel tank has never been inspected either. Recent: The car keeps dying in traffic in Las Vegas traffic. I paid to have it towed to a dealership which is harassing me and not fixing the car with excuse after excuse such as the car isn’t under recall and the battery terminal needs to be cleaned. Their excuses are petty when it comes to my vehicle, continuously stalling in the middle of traffic in Las Vegas on a busy freeway due to your recall that has not been completed. "Bought this car from Dean Arbour Ford in Feb 2024. Seven months later it had issues shifting and would sputter. Took it back to dealership, they replaced a transmission clutch. Now here it is 1.5 years after purchase. Check engine light came on no issues causing alram, had the code reader put on it said it was the transmission actuator, later that night it no longer wanted to shift. But after a couple restarts it was back to normal. Husband found out that the same code had been cleared prior to us purchasing the car."

"A major electrical issue has occurred in this car since June 1, 2025. The Traction Control System dashboard indicator (the skidding car) comes on even though I am not using the TCS. When this happens, I get a message saying "Hill start assist not available," and am unable to manipulate my headlights, use turn signals, or lock/unlock my doors (I need to use the physical key to lock/unlock the driver's side door). If this "Hill start assist" issue occurs and I turn off my car (or if it occurs when the car is off), then I am unable to start my car. I get a new message saying "No Key Detected," and the ignition does nothing. I have a physical key, and not a fob. If the TCS light goes away, then I am able to start up my car. However, this is unpredictable; there appears to be no way to force the TCS light to disappear, and sometimes it will stay on for over an hour with my key in the "on" position. As of late, it hasn't gone away at all, making the car unusable. This causes obvious safety issues when on the road, as I cannot use turn signals or change my lights as it gets darker or it begins to rain/snow. When not on the road, I cannot use my car at all. A dealer recently confirmed the problem with the Body Control Module, but was unable to fix it. They managed to turn the car on, but the problems returned after 24 hours. As I was driving home on July 18, 2025, the TCS light came on and suddenly I could not use turn signals or change my lights. I still had over an hour to drive home. I did arrive home safely, but have not been able to use my car since."

"The contact owns a 2015 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the “Transmission Overheating” warning light illuminated. Additionally, the RPM had become elevated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with transmission clutch failure. The contact was informed that the transmission clutch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V169000 (Power Train); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact had previously received the recall notification. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 89,500."
